Picture notes | There is a puzzle with the date of this picture. She had ten days in Jedburgh in September 1945. She recorded what she did every day, which was to stay in the village and sketch various buildings. But she had another stay, in Sept/Oct 1946, when she was with a friend with a car, and they drove around quite a lot, and on 1 Oct she records going to Ferniehirst. So my hypothesis, as with St Ives, is that she put the date on well after the painting was done and confused the two visits. |
